Participant Reviews
From the people who attended
Somkid Kanchanarat
Bangkok · Retired teacher
"I took The First Drawer after my husband suggested I learn a bit more about our bank accounts. I was nervous — I thought it would be complicated. It wasn't. The facilitator explained everything clearly and never made me feel silly for not knowing something. I came away with a printed guide that I still refer to."

Pratheep Phoonapha
Nonthaburi · Mid-level manager
"Everything in Its Place suited me well. I had a rough sense of saving but no real system. The six weeks gave me a structure I could actually follow. The recorded lessons were useful — I replayed a few of them at the weekend. Honest observation: the workbooks could be a bit longer for those who want more depth, but the basics are all there."
April 2025 · Everything in Its Place
Wanpen Narithorn
Bangkok · Small business owner
"The Whole Cabinet Programme gave me the language to actually talk to a financial adviser without feeling lost. I always thought I understood pensions but I really didn't. Ten weeks felt long when I signed up — by the end I was glad it wasn't shorter. The closing reflection session was a good touch."

Anan Rungsimanon
Pathum Thani · Civil servant
"I had tried reading about personal finance online and always felt confused. This was different — being in a room with other people at the same stage, asking the same questions, made a real difference. The facilitator was patient and never made it feel like we were behind."

Manee Thongsuk
Bangkok · Healthcare worker
"I chose The First Drawer as a test — if I liked it, I'd continue. I did like it, and I came back for Everything in Its Place a few months later. The information is relevant to Thailand, which sounds obvious but makes a big difference when you're trying to apply what you learn."
March 2025 · The First Drawer
Chaiwat Boonsuk
Bangkok · Freelance architect
"As a freelancer, my financial situation is more complicated than most. The Whole Cabinet Programme didn't pretend it could solve everything, but it helped me understand what questions to ask. I left knowing I needed a proper financial adviser for certain things — and knowing exactly what to ask them."

Participant Journeys
Three stories from the cabinet
Story 1 · The First Drawer
The starting point
Retired at 58 after a career in teaching, Somkid had always left money matters to her husband. Following a change in their household circumstances, she needed to understand their joint accounts, standing orders, and basic savings for the first time.
What opened
Over three sessions, she worked through how Thai savings accounts are structured, how interest accrues, and how to read a bank statement clearly. The printed guide gave her something to return to after each session.
Where she landed
Within a month of completing the programme, she had reorganised two accounts and set up a small monthly saving habit. "I now know what questions to ask the bank when I go in. That alone has made a real difference."
Story 2 · Everything in Its Place
The starting point
Pratheep, 47, saved a small amount each month but had no particular system. He felt his money was "doing nothing" and was aware that the years before retirement were narrowing, but didn't know where to start.
What opened
Six weeks covering saving routines, the structure of Thai mutual funds, and a framework for thinking about foreseeable costs. The midway check-in helped him adjust his approach based on what he'd learned so far.
Where he landed
He restructured his saving into two separate accounts with clear purposes and opened a fixed deposit for the first time. "I wouldn't call myself knowledgeable, but I feel organised now — and that's what I wanted."
Story 3 · The Whole Cabinet Programme
The starting point
Chaiwat, a freelance architect in his early fifties, had no provident fund and no clear picture of what retirement might look like. He'd had several conversations with advisers that left him more confused than before.
What opened
Ten weeks covering the Social Security Fund, self-employed pension options in Thailand, healthcare insurance structures, and a gentle introduction to family financial security — wills and beneficiary designations.
Where he landed
Armed with a clearer vocabulary, Chaiwat returned to a licensed financial adviser and had a productive conversation for the first time. "I finally understood what they were saying — and what they weren't saying."
